About the Omicron grant
The grant is to support businesses in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors affected by Omicron.
Grants up to £6,000 will be available to businesses.
How much a business can apply for is based on their rateable value.
Who can apply
- Businesses can apply for a grant if they are responsible for Business Rates and have a Business Rates account number.
- Meet the application criteria for hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors, and how the business operates.
Grant application criteria
Sector your business trades in
Your business must trade in 1 of the following areas to be eligible for the grant:
Hospitality
Businesses providing a venue for the consumption and sale of food and drink.
This doesn’t include:
- food kiosks and
- businesses who generate 50% or more of their income through takeaway trade
Leisure
Businesses providing opportunities, experiences and facilities for culture, recreation, entertainment, celebratory events, days and nights out, betting and gaming.
This doesn’t include:
- retail businesses
- coach tour operators and tour operators
Accommodation
Businesses providing lodging used for holiday, travel and other purposes.
This doesn’t include:
- private dwellings
- education accommodation
- residential homes
- care homes
- residential family centres and beach huts
How your business operates
If your business provides more than 1 service, at least 50% of your income from 1 of the services, must be named in the eligible business list. Check the types of businesses eligible
Your business must also be:
- open for and actively engaging in trading on 30 December 2021
- liable for business rates on 30 December 2021
- the rate payer
- occupying the rateable property on 30 December 2021
- the rateable property in the Valuation Office (VOA) rating list on 30 December 2021
Who can't apply
You can't apply for the grant if your business is:
- in administration, liquidation, dissolved, struck off or subject to a strike off notice or under notice
- subject to subsidy allowance rules
- not within the ratings system
- receiving or has already received support grants that reach the maximum allowance limit check grant allowance limits
How much can you get
The following grants values are available:
- £6,000 for businesses with a rateable value of £51,000 or above
- £4,000 for businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000
- £2,667 for businesses with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or below
You may be taxed on the grant you receive.
All final payments will be made by 31 March 2022

Applications will be open from 17 January 2022
You must complete and submit your application by 11.59pm on 18 March 2022
What you will need
Before applying you will need to gather information to support your grant application. You will need to upload this information onto your application form.
Supporting information for grant application:

business Rates Account Reference Number, this will be on your most recent bill

identification of the rate payer, upload either your financial accounts, passport ID page or driving licence

evidence of business trading from 30 December 2021, upload either a delivery note, expenses receipt, purchase order or sales receipt

evidence the claimant is named holder of bank account, upload a bank statement dated within the last 3 months.

evidence of the company occupying the property from 30 December 2021, upload 2 different utility bills, dated within the last 3 months. Such as; electricity bill, gas bill, landline bill or water bill
