Regulation summary

Notification must be in writing (including by electronic means) on a form approved by the Health and Safety Executive.  You must notify the local authority of any changes to the notification information within one month of the change, in writing. If the device ceases to be a notifiable device you must notify the local authority or island or district council in writing as soon as possible.

Information to be notified to the local authority:

  • The address of the premises where the notifiable device is to be situated
  • The name, address and telephone number of a person who has, to any extent, control of the premises referred to
  • The number of notifiable devices at the premises referred to
  • The location on the premises of each notifiable device referred to above.

The regulation relating to this licence.

Application evaluation process

Notification cannot be refused. If the notification is incomplete we will contact you immediately for the correct details. Once the completed notification is received the details will be recorded on the local authority database and public register within 28 days. Following notification your premises may be inspected to check on the safety of the equipment and its operation.

Will tacit consent apply?

Yes. This means that you will be able to assume your notification is satisfactory if you have not heard from the local authority by the end of the target completion period of 28 days. It does not mean that your business meets safety requirements which will be determined by inspection.
