Sacks recycling and waste
This recycling and waste collection information is for properties that have been assessed as requiring a sack collection.
If you do not currently receive a sack collection but think you should, please contact us on 020 8359 4600.
If you live in a time banded area, you will automatically receive purple sacks for non-recyclable waste every three months. You can opt-in to receive clear sacks for recycling.
What to put in your clear recycling sacks
If your property is unsuitable for a blue recycling bin, your recycling will only be accepted in clear recycling sacks issued by the council. Items you can use your clear recycling sacks for are:
- mixed paper and cardboard
- food tins and drinks cans
- cartons and Tetra Pak
- mixed glass bottles and jars
- plastic bottles, including toiletry containers
- plastic tubs, pots and trays
- aerosol cans
- foil and foil trays
Remember to place items in your sacks loose and please ensure your sacks are not overfilled with heavier items such as glass.
Before putting your sacks out, check your recycling is not contaminated.

Ordering your sacks
If you have been assessed to receive sack collections, you can order more clear recycling sacks. We advise that you make you order four weeks before you run out of your current stock of sacks.
Excess recycling
Flattened cardboard no larger than one metre squared and clean recyclables in a clear sack can be put out by your council issued clear sacks for collection.
