New fostering film released on 26th September
Barnet has joined with over 80 other Local Authorities up and down the country in the production of a short fostering film called 'Any Of Us'. It’s the largest public sector fostering film collaboration to promote local authority fostering.
‘Any Of Us’ looks at three very different people – Ayesha, Neil and Marsha all show some of the attributes needed to be a foster carer in incidents from their daily lives. The film tells a story about a young girl – Chloe who needs to come into foster carer, and one of these three people will become the foster carer to Chloe and we see her journey into fostering.
Different individuals in very different scenarios, but each in their own way showing the caring instinct that is fundamental to being a foster carer. Any of us can foster a child or young person and make a difference to the lives of children and young people.

Barnet Council foster carers
Mainstream fostering
Fostering
We need foster carers who can provide different types of care for children and young people, from birth to 18 years old.
Parent and child fostering
Foster a baby or young child with their parent for around 12 weeks at a time.
You may be supporting single mothers, single fathers or both parents together.
Supported lodgings
Prepare young people from the age of 16 to 25 for living on their own.
It's a stepping stone to independent living for the young person. You’ll be a supportive host for these young people in your home. You're there to offer emotional support and the chance for young people to learn life skills in a safe place
Fostering teenagers
In Barnet, we have a significant number of teenagers aged 13 to 18 years in our care.
We provide specific training and support to enable foster carers to understand adolescence. We encourage people to take on the challenge of providing care to this group of young people.
We want to help teenagers to become responsible and aspiring young adults.
Fostering siblings
We try to keep siblings together to make sure they don't have to face losing the bond they have with their brothers and sisters. It is important to try and maintain as many family relationships as possible.
