Hundreds pay their respects for Holocaust Memorial Day

The event comes 75 years after the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and 25 years after the genocide in Srebrenica, Bosnia. Cllr Stock described how her grandparents escaped Nazi Germany to set up a new home in Finchley in 1933, the year that Hitler became Chancellor of Germany.
Update on coronavirus outbreak (Friday 13 March)

The country has moved to a delay phase that is aimed at protecting those most vulnerable while delaying pandemic peak to summer months. This includes concentrating testing for COVID-19 only in those people who develop severe symptoms and/or have underlying conditions. This would be relevant mostly for people in hospitals. For all others, it will be self-diagnoses and self-isolation for seven days, irrelevant of travel history. You can find symptom checker here: https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19
‘Apprentices find their feet at Barnet Council,’ says chief executive

The council employs 80 apprentices in its schools, social care services, gardening and grounds work teams, street cleaning and rubbish collection departments, and back office roles. Mr Hooton made the comments during National Apprenticeship Week, an annual campaign to highlight the value that apprentices add to the UK workforce.
Shared Lives to help hundreds of adults

The council has joined the UK-wide network Shared Lives Plus, which matches approved carers with people who need support for their social care or health. People can visit their Shared Lives carer for a few hours during the day, an overnight stay or even move in and become part of the family for many years.

Council hosts photography exhibition
