The Leader of Barnet Council and the Leader of the Opposition have joined forces with our partners to say we must stand together and stop hate spilling over into our borough following the escalation in violence in the Middle East.

“We know how worried and anxious members of Barnet’s Jewish community are owing to indiscriminate terrorism in Israel. I know myself from speaking to my Jewish friends, residents and colleagues that many have loved ones directly affected by these terrible events.
“We are working closely with the Metropolitan Police, The Community Security Trust (CST) and community leaders.
Barnet Council has won an award for its suicide prevention campaign, offering aid and alternative solutions to people at risk of ending their own lives.
The council was handed the Best Digital Initiative accolade during an online awards ceremony for the UK Public Health Register (PHR) Chamberlain Dunn Awards.
Barnet Council’s new Colindale CCTV control room has officially launched with updated new state-of-the-art technology and capabilities – alongside improved 24/7, 365-day-a-year monitoring.
The launch of the control room is a key milestone in Barnet’s Strategic CCTV improvement programme and is part of the council’s wider community safety strategy, which sees the council working closely with Police and other organisations to tackle crime, violence against women and girls, and anti-social behaviour.

Barnet Council marked the start of the Black History Month (BHM) yesterday (1 October 2023), with a flag raising ceremony at Hendon Town Hall.
The ceremony was attended by The Worshipful the Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Nagus Narenthira, councillors, dignitaries, and civic guests. The flag was raised by Mrs Agnes Slocombe, the first black Mayor of Barnet.
