A carbon monoxide or smoke alarm could cost as little as £10, but could save yours or a loved ones life. Gas All gas appliances should be checked once a year by a Gas Safe registered engineer. You can find a suitably qualified engineer on the Gas Safe website.

Hadley Village

St Mary's Hadley was first built c1140. Much of the building we see today was built at the end of the 15th century and there is a date over the door that reads 1494. High above on the tower is a stand for holding a beacon.

Poets Corner and Daws Lane

This Victorian suburb to the west of Hammers Lane was started on land that had belonged to Sir Charles Flower (d.1834). In 1878 the Birkbeck Freehold Land Society divided the land into aproximately 500 plots laid out in a series of roads, which were named after famous poets such as Byron, Milton, Shakespeare and Tennyson.
