Coroners and mortuaries

The North London Coroner’s Jurisdiction covers the five London Boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Harrow, Haringey and Enfield. The Coroners service, including the Coroner’s Court is run on behalf of the H.M. Coroner and the five boroughs by the London Borough of Haringey. There are three public mortuaries in the jurisdiction: one in Haringey, one in Brent and Finchley Mortuary in Barnet. The Finchley Mortuary service is part of the Barnet Environmental Health Department. The functions provided by Finchley Mortuary are to:

Scheduled ancient monuments

In the United Kingdom, a scheduled monument is a 'nationally important' archaeological site or historic building, given protection against unauthorised change. The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 provides for nationally important archaeological sites to be statutorily protected as Scheduled Ancient Monuments. According to the 1979 Act, a monument cannot be a structure which is occupied as a dwelling, used as a place of worship or protected under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973.
